Montiel trains for the fight of his life

WBO bantamweight champion Fernando “Cochulito” Montiel is giving it all for the fight of his life. Montiel is training in Japan, and is doing 15-round sparring sessions to improve his stamina. He told Japanese media that he never trained this hard for any of his previous fights. He will take on WBC champion Hozumi Hasegawa of Japan on April 30, 2010 at the legendary Budokan Hall in Japan. “This is going to be a very tough fight, but I can win it. I am ready for this. This fight will show that I am one of the best in the world. I will bring the title back to Mexico”, Montiel said.

I hope Montiel wins this one and fight Eric Morel or Nonitor Donaire Jr., if Nonito is brave enough and decides to climb to the next weight division. These Japanese fighters have been avoiding Donaire for a very long time. Any of the top Japanese fighters can beat this overrated Filipino Flash, but they don’t have the courage like the Mexican fighters. Mexican boxers are true warriors so they duck nobody. Both Montiel and Morel will destroy Donaire. If Montiel wins against Hasegawa, expect Nonito to stay in his current division until he retires.
