Shane Mosley’s WBA welterweight belt will not be on the line for the Mosley-Mayweather bout. The reason for that is because Floyd reportedly didn’t want to pay for the sactioning fees. I’m not surprised that Floyd decided to do this. Firstly, if he wins and takes the belt, he will be forced to defend it agains the top contenders. Of course Floyd, the coward that he is, would not want a piece of these top fighters. Another reason could be because of his previous statement that “belts don’t do nothing except collect dust”. Again, I’m not surprised with that statement from Floyd. He doesn’t care for his legacy afterall. He’s been ducking the top fighters in the welterweight division. Which legitimate welterweight has he fought? Baldomir? Come on Floyd, he’s the same guy who Joshua Clottey beat.
I also realized that Floyd doesn’t want to pay the $100,000 sanctioning fee. Right now, Floyd is after every cent that he can get his fingers on. He owes the government millions in taxes and his properties are probably in danger of being taken away by the bank. So what happens is that if Floyd beats Shane on May 1, and that’s a big “IF” which I doubt will happen, Mosley’s WBA title will become vacant instead of going to Mayweather. If Mosley defeats Mayweather, Shane will keep his title.
